Wellington represents in this welcome departure (via Brand Avenue) from the drudgery of logo design competitions.

The Cit/ID project's aim is to "give a (type)face to every city worldwide" — and it's pretty interesting to see how people view the places in which they live, or have visited, or in respect of Temirtau, Kazahkstan, possibly hold a grudge against. Visit there soon and angry, monochromatic industrialist types should not be totally unexpected… By contrast, Sochi, Russia (soon to hold the 2014 Winter Olympics) looks more like an advertisement for Ibiza.

The bad good news; no New Zealand cities are as of yet Wellington is represented (twice! Once by Fatbob, above, and once by Sarai Beckmann). As you can see, I got a bit stuck on 'W', but make sure you take a good trawl through these offerings. And, just a thought, but surely this is a most convenient home for all those rejected Auckland city logos…
